Where we build

Based in Nanyuki, working across the Mount Kenya region

Building in Timau is a different job from building in Isiolo, and pretending otherwise is how budgets go wrong. Here is what actually changes from place to place.

Laikipia County

Nanyuki

Our base. Nanyuki has gone from a market and garrison town to one of the fastest growing places to build in Kenya, driven by holiday homes, people relocating from Nairobi and a strong short stay rental market.

Our office and workshop

Meru County

Timau

Timau sits higher up the mountain on the Meru side, in serious farming country. The plots are bigger, the views are better and the weather is harder on a building than anywhere else we work.

About 40 minutes from Nanyuki on the Meru road.

Nyeri County

Naro Moru

Naro Moru sits between Nanyuki and Nyeri at the foot of the mountain, with the river running through it. Plots here are popular with people who want land and quiet within reach of both towns.

About 30 minutes south of Nanyuki.

Laikipia County

Ol Pejeta and Matanya

The land west and south of Nanyuki towards the conservancy has been subdivided heavily over the past few years. It is open, it has space and views, and almost everything the house needs has to be brought to it.

20 to 40 minutes from Nanyuki depending on the track.

Nyeri County

Nyeri

Nyeri is an established town with good supply and a long building tradition. The challenges here are the slope and the water, not the materials.

Just over an hour from Nanyuki.

Meru County

Meru

Meru is a busy county with strong local stone supply and a large amount of building going on, from town rentals to farmhouses spread across the shambas.

About two hours from Nanyuki over the mountain.

Isiolo County

Isiolo

Isiolo is the gateway to the north and it is growing with the corridor. Building here is a different problem from building on the mountain, because heat and water replace cold and rain as the things the design has to solve.

About an hour and a half from Nanyuki.

Laikipia and Nyandarua

Nyahururu

Nyahururu sits on the Laikipia and Nyandarua boundary at high altitude. It is cold and wet, and both of those change how a house should be built.

About two hours from Nanyuki.

Laikipia County

Rumuruti and Laikipia West

Rumuruti and the land west of it are drier and more open, with plots that are large and affordable by Nanyuki standards. Water planning is the whole game here.

About an hour and a half from Nanyuki.

Somewhere else?

We take work across Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Isiolo, Nyandarua, Samburu, Embu and Kirinyaga. If your plot is further out than that, ask anyway. Distance changes the logistics and therefore the price, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it rather than quoting and hoping.

Tell us what you need

Send us your drawings, a list of materials, or just a description of the job. We will come back to you with a written quote.
